Tragic Solo-Car Collision Claims Three Lives in Pasadena

PASADENA, CA (May 13, 2024)In a devastating incident early this morning, Stefan Pfeiffer and two others lost their lives in a high-speed solo-car accident on Foothill Boulevard at Vista Avenue.

As reported by the Pasadena Police Department, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. 22-year-old Mohed Samuel was behind the wheel of a Tesla Model 3, allegedly exceeding the 35-mph speed limit for reasons yet to be determined. The vehicle ran a red traffic light, careened into a curb, and went airborne before colliding with a light pole, and a power pole, and ultimately crashing into a building, resulting in the ejection of three occupants.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, transporting three individuals to a nearby hospital. Tragically, one of the victims, Samuel’s sister, succumbed to her injuries at the crash site. Among the deceased were also 20-year-old Stefan Michael Pfeiffer, a student at Pasadena City College, and Esrom Fessemaye.

In the aftermath of this heart-wrenching incident, authorities have emphasized the role of speed in the collision. However, investigations are ongoing to ascertain whether impairment was a contributing factor and to determine the status of the autopilot feature on the Tesla.
